In Ayurvedic Gynaecology Yonidhavan have lot of prospective in treating Gynecological disorders. The success of this procedure totally depend upon how well this procedure is adopted by doctors on the patients. Study of Yonidhavan definitely prove to be helpful of Ayurvedic doctors.Yonidhawan absorb the medicated substance through vaginal mucosa into blood circulation and have beneficial effect on vagina and uterus. Site- Vaginal inner layer Duration- 7 to 8 days depending upon severity of disease. Timing-Rutukala(After 5th day of menses for 7- 8 days) Time- 3 to 5 min Drugs Used for yonidhavan are:- Kwatha (Decoction), Kshirpaka (Medicated Milk), Siddha Jala (Medicated Water, Oil) Quantity: 1litre of decoction, 250 ml of oil Indications: Yoni Srava(Vaginal Discharge) Yoni Arsha(Vaginal Polyps) Artava Dushti (Abnormal vaginal bleeding) Yoni Kandu (Vaginal Itching) Procedure: Proper aseptic precaution should be taken before starting the procedure. Patient is given a lithotomy position.( lying on your back with your legs flexed 90 degrees at your hips. Your knees will be bent at 70 to 90 degrees, and padded foot rests attached to the table will support your legs.). The rubber mackintosh is placed underneath patients waist, one end of which lies in the bucket. Sterile rubber catheter is inserted into vagina. Enema pot filled with decoction is kept at 5 feet distance with lukewarm decoction prathamavarta(Vagina) is washed out. After the procedure the vulva is dried with cotton. Then procedure is repeated on the respective days. The drugs used for Yonidhawana are antiseptic, and have the benefit of healing the wound.
