Description

In Ayurveda, Lekhan Basti is a therapeutic procedure that involves administering medicated enemas to address specific health conditions. Lekhan means "scraping" or "cleansing," and Basti refers to the enema therapy in Ayurveda. Lekhan Basti is primarily used to treat disorders related to excess Kapha dosha. The procedure involves introducing herbal decoctions, oils, or ghee (clarified butter) into the rectum through the anal route. The choice of ingredients depends on the individual's constitution and the condition being treated. The main objective of Lekhan Basti is to eliminate accumulated toxins, excess Kapha, and fat from the body. During the procedure, a specially prepared herbal formulation is administered into the rectum using a sterilized enema syringe or equipment. The patient is then asked to retain the enema for a specific period, allowing the medicinal substances to exert their effects. The medicated substances help in scraping off toxins, reducing excess fat, improving digestion, and balancing the Kapha dosha. Lekhan Basti is often recommended for conditions such as obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, rheumatoid arthritis, lymphatic congestion, and certain skin disorders associated with excess Kapha. The therapy aims to enhance metabolism, promote weight loss, reduce inflammation, and restore the balance of doshas.
